Monologue from Dying to Have Known:

The messages of early Spring were everywhere.

And with each passing day now, signs of new life intensified.

I took the courting call of the ruffed grouse to be the metaphor of our brightening future,

underscoring that life will find a way.

For each of us, eventually, whether we're ready or not, some day, it will come to an end.

There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours, or days.

All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame, and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.

It will not matter what you owned or owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.

So too your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.

The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won't matter where you came from or on which side of the tracks you lived.

It won't matter if you're beautiful or brilliant.

Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter?

How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built.

Not what you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered, or encouraged others to emulate your example.

The molehill is absent one day, present the next. Not so, the mountain. The mountain is hard to climb and is snow-capped. Not so the molehill. I'm really not trying to insult your intelligence.I'm just pointing out that somewhere in your world, something very small is being perceived as if it were something very big. What lies behind this great leap of the imagination? An emotional trigger. Only a deep, profound mood or feeling can intoxicate the brain to the point where it confuses a set of signals that are obviously distinct and different. Get some perspective. Then cheer up.

"The Blind Men and the Elephant"

John Godfrey Saxe's ( 1816-1887) version of the famous Indian legend:

It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approach'd the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
"God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!"

The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, -"Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me 'tis mighty clear
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!"

The Third approached the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,

Marriage

This morning, Mr. Hubby's friend's mother called and told him that his mother and father were going to file a divorce.

34 years of marriage.


I am stopped again:
It is beyond my capacity to comprehend the meaning of marriage, meaning of having a relationship....

Sharing my thoughts with my most lovable girl friends

sorry i don't mean to depress you or anything, but i've been feeling down or in deep thoughs thinking about death (it is not suicidal, just to make sure).
my parents died long time ago.
hide-san died last week.
liz died yesterday.
my mother-in-law's dad died this morning.
lots of poeple died in japan...
we are all going to die just like any other living things on the earth, sooner or later, accident, sickness, or any other causes.
we are not an exception.
i feel like i don't know how to digest that.

Disasters

When disasters occur in different coutnries all over the world, every other countries rush in to rescue, help, support, donate, and do everything they can do.

Why can they, can we, be that way all the time?  Even though there is no disaster that have damaged a country?
Be the same way to our fellow counries?



I appreciate the countries all over the world who have helped Japan after the horific earthquake and devastateing damages Japanese people had to experience.

Indeed, you can't judge your destination by condition and scenery of the roads you are on.
